"CP3 is without doubt one of the nicest players I have ever met. I had the opportunity to travel to his hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for his annual charity weekend event. The four-day weekend including a taping of ESPN's Homecoming show, a celebrity charity bowling tournament, youth basketball camp, Gala, and a Sunday morning chuch service.

I was fortunate enough to create a pair of sneakers to be auctioned off during the live auction at the Gala black-tie event. The inspiration behind the shoes came directly from Chris and his character, both on and off the court. The main attributes of CP3 that inspired me were his vision, his heart, and his mind. All three of those ingredients make up the ideal point guard.

Leading up to the live auction, I had no idea what to expect. As the auctioneer started the bid at $500, I kept seeing bidding paddles raise up one after another. I think my heart either beat at a ridiculously fast pace or stopped beating all together - I couldn't even tell the difference. As the auctioneer did his "Going, going, gone!" I realized they sold for $3,750. Who was the buyer!? Chris Paul tried to be but was actually outbid - by his grandpa. What a conclusion to an amazing event to benefit a great cause! It could not have gone any better. I am extremely grateful for being able to be apart of it. Hopefully we can do it again next year to raise additional funds for a great cause!" -T.WAY
